What is the National Alpaca Foundation’s Mission?

To engage in educational activities, youth development activities, and other charitable and scientific activities relating to alpacas.

Does the Foundation support activities outside of Alpaca Owners Association?

Yes. The Foundation is a separate organization focusing on the broader alpaca industry.

What AOA programs does the Foundation support?

Like any other person (Scholarship) or organization seeking funding, AOA must apply for relevant grants. Currently, the Foundation supports The Student Design Scholarship Competition by raising scholarship funds. AOA runs the programmatic function.

Where is the National Alpaca Foundation located?

Our national headquarters is located in Lincoln, Nebraska where we share space with Alpaca Owners Association. Our mailing address is 8300 Cody Dr., Lincoln, NE 68512.

Can I tell the Foundation where I want my donation to go?

Absolutely. Any donation can be designated. In fact, you can designate a portion to one fund and a portion of the same donation to another fund or the general fund if you’d like.

Where do donations to the General Fund go?

The General fund will be used to pay administrative costs, which are necessary to any business, and to initiatives or programs the Board feels will benefit the greater alpaca community and is consistent with the Foundation mission and IRS guidelines.

Can Affiliates or an individual set up a fund?

Yes, as long as it is consistent with the Foundation’s missions and is allowed by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

What funds are currently available?

We have two scholarship funds:
1. The Dawn Stewart Memorial Scholarship for large animal veterinary students
2. The AOA Student Design Competition Scholarship in fashion and textiles

You can also donate in honor or memory of someone and designate those funds to a current fund or set up a fund in someone’s name. Again, it must be consistent with the Foundation mission and Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

How can I make a donation?

Donations can be made online here, or you can send a check to National Alpaca Foundation, 8300 Cody Dr, Lincoln, NE 68512, or call with a credit card (VISA, MC, AmEx, or Discover) at 402.437.8484.

You can also leave a legacy by naming the National Alpaca Foundation in your will.

Are you a charity/are my donations tax deductible?

Yes. The National Alpaca Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. ID #31954.

Are there grants for individuals that help purchase alpacas or set up a farm?

No. We can’t help you buy alpacas! But we encourage you to contact your local USDA or NRCS office to learn about grants that could help you with things like sustainable farming practices, solar panels, fencing and more.
